I turned to yoga to change my body, but learned to change my perspective instead.
Growing up, I struggled with an eating disorder, anxiety, and an overwhelming need to be perfect. I began practicing yoga as a way to get in shape, and become more “perfect”. What I learned instead was that there is no prefect, and it’s our imperfections that make us truly special. Spending time on my mat taught me to show myself compassion, and to live each day with love in my heart.
Nowadays it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, the need to be perfect and to achieve. Yoga teaches us to slow down and be present; it teaches us to accept and love ourselves as we are, here and now.
After nearly a decade of practicing yoga, I decided I wanted to share everything yoga has taught me with as many people as possible. I obtained my 200hr Yoga Instructor certificate in 2019, and my 25hr Yin Yoga certificate in 2021.
Off the mat, I spend most of my time raising and homeschooling my teenage daughter. I also love the outdoors, especially the beach, and in the nice weather I’m soaking up the sun. Some of my favorite outdoor activities include gardening, hiking and slacklining (which is kind of like waking a tightrope, for those who don't know).
I look forward to being a part of your yoga journey as well. Namaste!
